Quizzes are a fun way of learning: Quiz Master 

The first edition of Quiz Nerds, an inter-school quiz competition held at Indus Universal School, Yapral, Sainikpuri, Secunderabad. The quiz was facilitated by Tutoroot Technologies and saw 26 teams from schools across the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad compete. The top 6 teams made it to the final round.

Quiz Master Suresh Kochattil conducted the final round of 36 questions which saw 6 teams battle it out for the honours. The visual round had questions on the Hornbill festival of Nagaland and the uniqueness of the construction of the Kailash temple at Ellora among others.

Till the halfway mark, Abhaya School and Jubilee Hills Public School were neck and neck with just 10 points separating the two teams.


In the end, the team from Abhaya – A Waldorf School, Gundlapochampally represented by Amogh Gubba, Pranav Pashya and Amitesh Lulla raced ahead and emerged as the winners with 70 points.


Vihaan Reddy, Veda Krishna and Dara Sricharan, Jubilee Hills Public School, Rampally took the second spot while Vista International School represented by Vatsal Gupta, Jaiyesh and Bhuvana came third.

Quizzes help understand a subject well. It is a fun way of learning and remembering what is learnt. Students will be able to think from diverse perspectives by participating in quizzes, said the speakers who spoke at the prize-giving ceremony.


Students can think from diverse perspectives by participating in quiz tournaments. Tests and quizzes are a motivator to study well and hard. Quizzes must be part of the teaching methods as they help improve concentration, identify knowledge gaps, boost confidence and help to remember and retain information, they added.

Vijay Kumar Devarakonda, Director, Shankara Chary, Senior Principal and Mrs Neelima, Principal, of Indus Universal School graced the competition. Winners were given away prizes.
