The city will be host to 3day Global South Conference on Infection Prevention Control and Antimicrobial Stewardship

The Pragyaan Sustainable Health Outcomes Foundation (PRASHO), a Hyderabad-based non-profit organisation,  in collaboration with the Infection Control Academy of India (IFCAI) and the University of Hyderabad (UOH), is to host the Global South Conference on Infection Prevention Control and Antimicrobial Stewardship (G- SPARC) from October 3 to 5 this year. The three-day conference will address Infection Prevention and Control (IPC), Healthcare-Associated Infections (HAIs), and Anti- Microbial Resistance (AMR). The conference will take place from October 3 to 5, 2024, in Hyderabad.

 

The city’s well-known healthcare professionals and leaders in Public Health R Govind Hari, Dr. Ranga Reddy Burri and Prof GVS Murthy have joined together with a couple of other healthcare professionals to launch PRAGYAAN SUSTAINABLE HEALTH OUTCOMES FOUNDATION (PRASHO), a Not-For-Profit Section 8 Enterprise. Giving details, R. Govind Hari, Chairman of the foundation and who is also an advisor on health to the Government of Andhra Pradesh said, PRASHO is conceptualised to tackle unique challenges that often go unnoticed yet wield immense power to shape the health and well-being of our communities.

 

Disclosing this in a press note issued in the city today, R. Govind Hari, Chairman of the foundation said the conference, with the theme, 'Unify Global South to fight infections, and stop pandemics,' will address Infection Prevention and Control, Healthcare-Associated Infections, and Anti- Microbial Resistance. Participants from over four continents and 50 countries are likely to take part in outcomes,". 

 

The challenges of antibiotic usage, lack of clear data on infection control practices in the Global South, and creating a consensus on dealing with AMR, HAIS, and IPC in a customised approach are going to be a few of the many topics that are going to be discussed in the G-SPARC-2024 conference.

 

PRASHO in the release said that the conference will bring in Global South consensus on key topics such as IPC, AMR, and HAIS, across all the countries. "One size- doesn't fit all likewise the policy framework, guidelines, interventions, and practices tailored for the resource-rich may not fit the resource-poor. Hence, customisation and localisation is a top priority to address these public health priorities with sustainable.

 

The G-SPARC stakeholders meeting was held in the city with more than 40 global, local, academic, and professional associations that came together to address global public health challenges related to infections. The consultative meeting was chaired by R Govind Hari, Chairman, PRASHO; Prof Ranga Reddy Burri, Chairman, G-SPARC 2024, and Prof Shamanna from UOH.

 

Healthcare providers, health administrators, government organisations, patrons, strategic partners, professional associations, academic support organisations, government/multi-40 global, local, academic, and professional associations attending the virtual GSPARC stakeholders consultative meeting lateral organisations, Civil Society Organisations, and industrial partners have collaborated for the G-SPARC-2024. The theme of the conference is to "Unify Global South to fight infections, and stop pandemics." Participants from over four continents and 50 countries. are likely to take part in the event, including Asia, Africa, GCC, and South America.
