The renovated cardiology wing opened at Mahavir Hospital

Mahavir Hospital and Research Centre, a Bhagwan Mahavir Memorial Trust unit, opened its newly renovated Cardiology wing on Sunday.  It was renovated with donors' donations for the same.  

 

Dr B. Bhaskar Rao, Chairman and MD of KIMS Group of Hospitals who was the chief guest inaugurated it formally along with Guests of Honour B. Balakrishna, IRS, Commissioner of Income Tax (Exemptions) and Amit Kumar, Assistant Commissioner Income Tax (TDS).

 

Addressing the gathering immediately after the inauguration, Dr, Bhaskar Rao, under whose guidance, the hospital is offering cardiac care said that they propose to offer Cardiology tests including an Angiogram(a diagnostic test that examines blood vessels to check for any potential heart conditions) at Rs 10,000/-(ten thousand) and Open Heart Surgery or Angioplasty (a Minimal Invasive procedure in which narrow arteries are made wide to treat the heart conditions) in Rs 2 lakh(while the cost outside is above rs 3 lakh) to begin with for the first few months, maybe for about six months.    

 

Dr Bhaskar Rao, the renowned cardiologist who has 30,000 cardiac surgeries to his credit said this was his birthplace for his entrepreneurial journey.  Before working at Mahavir Hospital, I was a consultant at Medwin.  I worked here and I know everyone by name, he added   


It was a great moment for him and other staff and colleagues who worked with him at Mahavir to see the colleague who went on to build KIMS with a 4500-bed hospital and came back as chief guest to inaugurate the renovated cardiac wing. Not only he came as chief guest, but, he has been their guiding force behind all the modernization of the cardiac wing. 


Guest of Honour B. Balakrishna, IRS, Commissioner of Income Tax (Exemptions) said Mahavir Hospital has been providing quality care at affordable cost.  He thanked the donors.  He said many donors are willing to contribute to a good cause.  They can do so as per the provisions in the law.  He wished Mahavir go places. 

 

Giving his opening remarks Mahendra Ranka, Chairman said the renovation of the hospital was started a couple of years back and still some more work to be done.  It is being done in a phased manner as it is a running hospital.  He also announced that the plans are on the anvil to build another hospital on the backside of the existing hospital.

 

The inauguration of the Cardiology Department was facilitated by the donors Cath Lab by Sanskruti Shikar and Sanskruti; Intensive Care Unit by Pushpa Rajendra Vinod Kumar, Vikram Kumar Kimtee and Family and Cardiology by Sri Premraj Ji, Smt Panibai, Smt. Indira Devi and Gugaliya Family. All the donors were felicitated on the occasion.

 

Mahavir Hospital has been a pillar of compassion and service for more than four said Mahendra Ranka, Chairman while giving his opening remarks at the launch. 

 

The specialities now available at Mahavir Hospital are General Medicine, Dialysis, Cardiology, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Neurology and Neuro Surgery, Urology and Transplant, Nephrology, Orthopaedics, General Surgery, ENT, Critical Care Unit, Pulmonology, Gastroenterology, Oncology, Dermatology, Dental Surgery, Plastic Surgery, Gynaecology & Obstetrics, Vascular and Endovascular Surgery, Allergic Clinic, Radiology, Dietician & Nutritionist and TB Clinic and Physiotherapy. 

 

The hospital has a recognised in-house blood bank, a recognised nursing school, and a research centre: ambulance facility, trauma care, intensive coronary care unit, and digital-x-ray among others. 

 

The inaugural was graced by Sushil Kapadia, Vice Chairman, Sunil Pahade, Managing Trustee and Sushil Sancheti, Trustee Treasurer, Dr. Y Shivakumar, Dr. Vijay, Dr. Siddarth and others.   Dr. Asha Khivsara, Dr. Ghisulal Jain, Nithin K Shah, Paresh Shah, Rajesh Parak, Rajesh Pokarna, Ramesh Kundalia, Sheel Kumar Jain, Vijay Surana, Vimal Ranka, Yogesh Jain were also present.
