Messy room is equal to messy mind: Shivani Agarwal

FICCI Ladies Organisation (FLO) organised a session “Declutter Your Mind, Body, Space & Speech” in the city at Hotel Park, Somajiguda on Wednesday.

Welcoming the gathering giving her opening remarks, a Shubhraa Maheshwari, Chairperson of FLO said Diwali is the time we put an effort to declutter and clean our homes, work places. So, we thought it fit and apt to organise this session.

Three subject experts spoke on each one point of the title of the session.

Beginning her conversation on ‘Declutter Your Mind & Surroundings with Konmari Technique”, Ms Shivani Agarwal said the fact remains that we always talk about what we need, but never talk about how get rid of what we don’t need.


Declutter things, she informed her 150 plus audience. Messy room equals messy mind. Treat your house as temple and keep it that way, she said.

Discard things. Not many do that. Discarding what you bought is not a waste she said.

She spoke about Kon Mari Method which encourages tidying by category – not by location – beginning with clothes, then moving on to books, papers, komono (miscellaneous items), and, finally, sentimental items. Keep only those things that speak to the heart, and discard items that no longer spark joy.

Start decluttering yourself first then that imbibes into other family members, she added.

Have you ever greeted your house and thanked it for taking care of you and for protecting you, she asked.

The second speaker Divas Gupta spoke about Decluttering the speech and learn effective communication. It is the myth that speakers are born. They are actually trained. All can be better speakers by a bit of training, he added.

He gave a few tips on how to make structured speeches. Speakers are leaders and leaders are speakers said Divas Gupta.

Dr. Karan Kakkad, who helped Mukesh Ambani, Nita Ambani reverses their diseases spoke about “Declutter your body and reverse diseases”.

You can reverse diseases with food and mind. People in the age range of 60, 70, 80 and above have more health concerns. Right habits help us long life and not just prevent but reverse diseases.


Drumstick is the best plant food that is therapeutic with a very high nutrition content. The drumstick tree, seeds, pods, and flowers all have medicinal properties. They are highly on vitamin C and antioxidants, drumstick helps to stove off several common infections, he added.

We have now infection diseases and lifestyle diseases. 100 years back we had only infection diseases. Nearly 67% deaths are reported due to Lifestyle diseases. Consumption of Plant food helps in reversing diseases. Avoid animal food and processed food, he told.

It is found that 74% people do not eat red food, 69% green, 83% white, 76% purple and 80% yellow and orange food. He advised his participants to eat more coloured food.

Eat plant food, seasonal food, more colourful food. Time of sleep is more important than the number of hours of sleep he said. The first half of the sleep helps to kill cancer cells. As you all know every one of us have cancer cells within us. It is our immune system keeps killing them constantly.
