The word ‘engineer’ is derived from the Latin words ‘ingeniare’ (which means ‘to create or generate’) and ‘ingenium’ (which means ‘cleverness’).

In order to honor their achievements, Engineers Day was celebrated in different Nations. Engineers Day is observed in order to motivate the people in the field of engineering in the nation. And to encourage young people in the path of engineering.



Every year 15th September is celebrated as National Engineers Day in India. National Engineers Day is celebrated on 15th September in India, in order to pay tribute to our Indian engineer and Bharat Ratna Sir Mokshagundam Viswesvaraya on his birthday. Sir M Viswesvaraya mostly contributed to the field of engineering and education. In India Sir M Viswesvaraya is considered the greatest engineer in the nation who plays an important role in the construction of dams, reservoirs, and hydropower projects. He helped in the construction of some architectural marvels including the Krishna Raja Sagar dam in Karnataka.
