Marketing and Advertising

Though the objective " Marketing " and " Advertising " share the same objective, also many things are common in both, but the two are different concepts. Many entrepreneurs take it as synonyms for each other.

Comprehension of these differences and similarities will help any business or organization with its strategy for customer and audience acquisition.

What is Marketing?

Marketing is all about figuring out who you want to do business with and sending the right message to them so they will want to do business with you.

It helps you create awareness of your product, service or brand, among your target market, so they believe you can help them accomplish their goals (as they relate to your product or service).

What is Advertising?

Advertising is one way to deliver your message. But it’s only ONE way. Depending on your specific business, you could have hundreds of ways to reach your target market.

In basic terms, marketing is the process of identifying customer needs and determining how best to meet those needs. In contrast, advertising is the exercise of promoting a company and its products or services through paid channels. In other words, advertising is a component of marketing.

It’s important to note that advertising is a component of marketing. Marketing refers to preparing a product for the marketplace. Advertising is making your product and service known to an audience or marketplace.

Advertising is a specific step of marketing. Advertising uses the data and research collected by marketing strategies to best communicate the brand.

Marketing is a more controlled and wider-reaching process, while advertising is specific to brand communication. In a way, marketing is both research and practice, while advertising is straight practice. Marketing involves consumer behavior and marketing research, while advertising involves creative endeavors like design and multimedia production.
